Abbi grew up playing a variety of sports including soccer and basketball, but found a passion for horseback riding as a preteen. She pursued this discipline competitively to a national level until a pelvic fracture in her teens forced her to take a step back. She then switched into an instructing role at a local riding facility, where she realized her love for coaching.
After being out of sport for several years, Abbi was looking for a way to incorporate her love for fitness and coaching back into her life. This led her to complete the Canfitpro Personal Training Specialist Certification. She was then able to secure a position as a personal trainer at a gym in her hometown, where she worked with a diverse group of clients in a one-on-one environment. Abbi later took on an additional role as a group fitness instructor within that same facility where she gained experience instructing a variety of classes, including senior’s strength, high intensity interval training, and bootcamps. During this time spent in the gym, Abbi developed an interest in powerlifting. This brought her to Ultimate Fitness for the first time in December of 2023, to participate in the unsanctioned powerlifting open.
Abbi is currently studying to complete the Canfitpro Healthy Eating and Weight Loss certification, with intentions to pursue a pre/post natal training certification after. She plans to continue exploring her interest in powerlifting, and aspires to further her education with a post - secondary degree in a health and fitness related field.
